We are proud to announce that West Ottawa has three students selected to perform in the MSBOA All-State Band and Orchestra! Mason Ouzts (Clarinet), Tate Szilagyi (Trumpet) and Donovan Meeusen (String Bass) were all selected by competitive audition to perform in these elite ensembles. These students will rehearse with the All-State groups on January 16 & 17 and then perform at DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids on Saturday, January 18 as part of the Michigan Music Conference.
Donovan Meeusen is a junior bassist in Chamber Orchestra, where he has been the principal bass player for the last two years. He also participated in Jazz I, Pit Orchestra, and the Holland Area Youth Orchestra. Tate Szilagyi is a senior who plays Principal Trumpet in Symphony Band. He is also lead trumpet in Jazz I and performs in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony and Pit Orchestra at WO. Mason Ouzts is a senior who plays Principal Clarinet in Symphony Band. He is also the lead tenor saxophone in Jazz I and performs in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony and Pit Orchestra at WO. Mason is currently a finalist for the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band Soloist Competition.
