Students enrolled in an AP class during the 2019-2020 school year have the opportunity to take AP exams in May in order to qualify for college credit. College credit is not guaranteed due to the fact that each college/university has its own policies regarding what they will/will not grant credit for. College Board made several significant changes to the registration deadline, late fees and cancellations fees.
It is important that all AP students have a College Board account. Many students already have this created. Students use their College Board account log in for PSAT, SAT and AP. If you already have a College Board account created, do not create a second account! This could prevent your AP scores from going to the correct college. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
-Make sure it is the student’s name on the account. You do not want a parent/guardian name on your AP score report.
-If you have problems with your account, contact College Board directly. The AP Coordinator cannot assist with log in problems.
-Keep a confidential record of your College Board account username and password.
WOHS AP exam registrations must be submitted by October 9, 2019. Students will register for their exam(s) online via their AP teacher’s MyAP classroom. All registration directions will be distributed through the AP teachers to the AP students. If you have questions, contact your student’s AP teacher. Exams will only be ordered for students that:
-register on MyAP by October 9
-pay in full by a date to be determined (AP teachers will announce the date within the first week of school)
-agree to the compliance checks on the WOHS AP Contract (a Google Form that AP teachers will distribute electronically)
AP Exams are $96 per exam. Students will be able to submit cash or credit card payment. Payment instructions/deadline will be distributed soon via AP teachers. Students that qualify for free/reduced lunch will likely pay a different per exam fee. This information will be available soon and will distributed to students via AP teachers.
AP courses at WOHS are year long courses. If a student decides to cancel their exam after Nov. 15, they will be charged a late fee of $40. The AP Coordinator will work with the Main Office to issue parents/guardians a partial refund of $50. Allow up to one month for processing. Cancellations after March 13 (including no shows on exam day) are not guaranteed any type of refund.
If a student decides to register for an exam after November 15, there is an additional $40 late ordering fee in addition to the regular exam fee. The AP Coordinator will not place the order until the student has completed the following steps:
-register for the exam on MyAP
-pay in full, cash only
-agree to the compliance checks on the WOHS AP Contract
Questions should be directed to your student’s AP Teacher or the AP Coordinator, Mrs. Corban Van Dam (email@example.com).
