We are excited to see a number of sophomore students committing to the full IB Diploma Program at WOHS. These students will begin their IB courses in the fall.
Sophomores–It’s not too late to sign up for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program! See Mrs. Van Dam as soon as possible.
The IB Diploma Program is a challenging and rewarding academic program that starts in the junior year. Students should consider the IB Diploma Program for several reasons:
1. Students in the IB Diploma Program are part of a community of learners. They develop a strong bond over the course of the junior and senior years.
2. Writing skills are used often as a form of expressing knowledge. This allows students to use critical thinking skills with frequency which is excellent preparation for college.
3. Most colleges and universities look favorably at students in the IB Diploma Program. Many schools will grant college credit to students that do well on their IB HL (Higher Level) exams.
4. The IB Diploma Program provides students with an international perspective. Students examine global and local issues from multiple perspectives.
If you have questions about the IB Diploma Program or need more information, please contact Mrs. Van Dam, IB Coordinator, at 616-786-1100 x6184 or firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to make an appointment to change your child’s junior year schedule to include IB, please call the South High School and make an appointment to see Mr. Veldkamp, the IB Counselor.
