SCHEDULING FOR 2018-19
The West Ottawa Counseling Department is pleased to announce the release of a new feature within your child’s Infinite Campus Portal account. This feature will allow you and your student to build a roadmap to and through the high school graduation requirements. The Multi Year Academic Planning tool captures the work students have completed and offers recommendations for next and most appropriate courses in any core content sequence. This tool allows future plans to change while maintaining the integrity of plans in action. It is the hope of the Counseling Department that with the introduction of this tool, parents feel more engaged in the course planning process, and have a better understanding of all the possibilities for meeting the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements as well requirements for earning a West Ottawa High School diploma. Some of the features include:
- 4 year academic planning
- Postsecondary planning
- Online Parent Approval
- This Multi Year Academic Planning Tool replaces the previous online course request process
In Seminar during the week of February 19th, your students was introduced to the Multi Year Academic Planning tool. Please have your student log into their Portal account and show you their academic plan progress. Have a conversation about the appropriateness of their course plans and engage in dialogue about how these plans fit with your child’s post-secondary goals. To help aid in that conversation, please utilize our course guide. The course guide is filled with course descriptions, grade level appropriateness, prerequisites, and even videos. With the course guide at your disposal you can peruse more than 150 courses.
As always, please feel free to reach out to your child’s school counselor for more information about course planning and future opportunities for academic growth.

wohs recognized as top school in area for elite college admissions
Data released recently from the Center for Educational Performance and Information shows that West Ottawa High School graduates are admitted to selective colleges and universities at a higher rate than any other Holland-Zeeland area high school. Selective colleges are those that only admit 20% or less of their total applicants. This data is a testament to the college-going culture as well as the multiple high quality academic and extra curricular programs at West Ottawa.
