Dear Students, Parents and Community,
There is always something happening at WOHS and October was no exception! The Homecoming 2018 week was a blast as students exhibited school spirit and participated in daily festivities. The Class of 2020 pulled off the upset by upending the Senior class for total points during the week. WOHS Student Senate did a magnificent job of planning and executing a fun-filled and action packed week culminating with the Homecoming dance. Our students demonstrated true Panther Pride all week long and will remember Homecoming 2018 forever.
West Ottawa High School, led by our two college advisers, Ms. Anderson and Ms. Ramos celebrated College Application Week in October as well. Many events such as FAFSA and Financial Aid nights, application assistance, college visits and college spirit week were held. Our mission is to “prepare students to be college, career and life ready,” and the initiatives such as these allow that to happen. Be sure to follow our College Advisers on Twitter at @GoWO_College for more information. You may also contact them at any time by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Finally, WOHS recently hosted a community viewing of Angst, a film about anxiety in youth. Nearly 100 people attended the showing of the documentary, but more importantly engaged in the critical dialogue surrounding mental health. Our entire student body watched the film during the school day to also raise awareness around teenage anxiety. We look forward to offering more opportunities for the school to engage in important conversations with our parents and community regarding mental health in the future. Our goal is to build a culture at WOHS that is “stigma free.”
The WOHS Theater Department presents the fall musical Grease on November 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10. Please visit the Theater Ticketing site to purchase tickets. You do not want to miss the WOHS version of this all-time favorite!
Veterans Day 2018
Each year West Ottawa High School recognizes our country’s Veterans by holding a Veterans Day assembly. This year the event will be held on November 12, 2018. We will continue our tradition of honoring all Veterans in attendance, along with many other tributes to those who have served in the military. Please share the below information with any Veteran and invite them to our assembly.
Thank you for all of your support thus far during the 2018-19 school year. The attendance at the Parent Teacher Conferences was outstanding. We are so proud to partner with all of you as we prepare students to be College, Career and Life Ready.
Thank you, and as always, Go WO!
