October 2019 Update from the Principal

Dear West Ottawa High School Families,

Homecoming 2019 is in the books!  It was a tremendous week of celebration as students showed off their school spirit.  There were a few scheduling changes, but our students led by Student Senate pulled off an amazing week.  Events such as PowderPuff, Dress Up Days, FOX 17 Food Fight Friday, Homecoming Assembly and Dance and much more proved to make it a memorable week.  Click here to view a video created by Student Senate highlighting Homecoming Week.

A couple items to note as we move forward in the month of October.

  • October 16 – PSAT/NMSQT – All 11th grade students will take the PSAT/NMSQT on the morning of October 16.  This is a great opportunity for our juniors to practice taking an SAT aligned assessment, while potentially qualifying for a National Merit Scholarship.  All students are to report for this entire day.
  • October 18 – NO SCHOOL – Teacher Professional Development Day
  • October 21-25 – WOHS Anti-Bullying Week – Each day students will engage in an Anti-Bullying lesson created by WO teachers and students.  Please know that these lessons are adapted each year based on feedback by our students.
  • October 24 & 29 – Parent Teacher Conferences – The Fall PTC will take place from 5-8 p.m. on each of these two evenings.  Conferences our held in both buildings based on students’ schedules.

Thank you, and as always, Go WO!!

Mr. Reinecke
