On February 28, the robotics team was awarded FIRST’s highest honor by being named the Chairman’s Award winner at the Howell District competition. This award gives the team an automatic entry into the state competition to be held in April at the DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids. Students earned the award by sharing team accomplishments with a judging panel. The team highlighted its partnership with Holland BPW and another FIRST team in distributing over 13,000 LED light bulbs into the community. The team also discussed its willingness to help other teams in need and our extensive community service record.
The team’s next event is the West Michigan District, which takes place on March 20-21 at GVSU’s Field House in Allendale. After that, the team travels to Cincinnati for the Queen City Regional on April 2-4. The state competition in GR follows during the latter part of spring break on April 9-11. All events are free to the public.
