September 2018 Update from the Principal

Hello WOHS Families and Community Members,

The 2018-19 school year is off and running.  As you probably are aware, I transitioned to the Principal role at the beginning of August.  Mr. Tulgestke is now an Assistant Superintendent here at WO.  I am incredibly excited, and equally motivated to be the new lead learner at WOHS.  We have accomplished so much in the recent years, and we look forward to maintaining this success and growing even more.  Here is the letter sent to all families regarding the change.

There are two new additions to the high school administrative team.  Mrs. Michelle Woods, who has served in multiple roles in our district, will be an Assistant Principal at the South Building.  Mr. Jake Manning is coming to us from Mona Shores where he was an Assistant Principal the last three years.  Mr. Manning will be an Assistant Principal at the North Building.

CLASS of 2022

WOHS welcomed the Class of 2022 during Freshman Registration and then with a Freshman Orientation built into the first day of school with the rest of the student body.  Seniors helped provide tours to the freshmen during this orientation time.  Thanks to Student Senate and WO Renaissance for assisting with registration.

Getting involved at WO

Studies show that students who are connected to their school and involved in some type of extra curricular activity are much more successful with their schooling.

Great news!  There are endless opportunities for students to get involved at WOHS.  Please visit the WOHS club site to see all of the extra curricular offerings at WO.

NEW COLLEGE ADVISERS: Ms. Anderson & Ms. Ramos

West Ottawa High School is fortunate to be the first high school in the state of Michigan to have a partnership with the Michigan College Access Network and Michigan State University College Advising Corps and have TWO college advisers! This partnership provides WOHS students with full time college advisers. Our college advisers are available to help all seniors navigate the college-going process including college applications, acceptance, financial aid, scholarships, and the college decision. You can contact Ms. Anderson at and Ms. Ramos at AND follow them on twitter @GoWO_College.

We realize it can sometimes be frustrating to find important dates and places for the multitude of activities going on at West Ottawa High School.  We will be keeping an updated Quick Reference calendar here on the Panther Pipeline site throughout the year. You can easily access this calendar from any computer or mobile device by visiting and clicking on Important Dates at the top of the page.  You can also find all important date under the Events tab on the main high school page. We hope you are enjoying the last of the summer weather and getting outside with your family. WOHS teachers and staff are looking forward to a wonderful school year.
