News from West Ottawa High School

The Month of Caring will be November 17-December 29, 2014

Student senate will be working on several large projects this year, which include:

Adopt-a-Child is a fundraiser in which we assign each class an anonymous student who attends our school district. Each class brings in gifts from toys to winter necessities to give these children a Christmas that they wouldn’t be able to have without us. The class that brings in the highest quality and quantity will win a Doughnut party, and the winner will be announced at our Holiday assembly. Classes will get their designated child (again anonymous, so their given “name” is not real) on November 24. The final day to turn in gifts will be December 12; we will be going to each class on this day to collect all the toys. December 13 will be our wrapping party in which we wrap every gift donated. Thank you for all your support.

Senate will also be working to help create a new program this year that will focus on the sense of Community at the High School and be a fund raiser also for WinWO a charity for West Ottawa Students in need at the High School. This coordination is with Mrs. Armstrong for the Senior Survivor Event.

Senate will host the Month Of Caring Assembly also where we recognize all of the clubs and organizations here at West Ottawa and their efforts to give back to our greater community as a whole. Please keep an eye out for ways that you can encourage your students to give back during the month of caring, whether it is participating in one of our activities, or in activities that will be held within other groups or organizations in our School or the greater community.
