WOHS Season of Caring

WOHS SEASON of CARING aka *Month of Caring*! #WOMOC18

The annual WOHS “Season of Caring” is underway!  Thank you WO Renaissance for getting it rolling with their  Donations for Soldiers Drive. Here is a run-down of the annual school-wide, as well as community-wide, activities that will be taking place:

1st Hour “Operation Toy drive”: Thursday 12/6 – Friday 12/14

sponsored by WO Senate

First hours will be “adopting” a student from the WO community to purchase new gifts for.  Information regarding your class’ first hour child will be delivered or put in your mailbox on/before Thursday, Dec. 6th.  Friday, December 14th Senate Elves will be around to pick up collection boxes, so ALL gifts must be purchased and ready for pick up promptly during 1st hour on 12/14. (Please do not wrap)

*All donations submitted after 12/14 will be donated to the Salvation Army.  The class with the most giving/generous spirit will be recognized at the Holiday Assembly on 12/21.  Also if you or your class wants more then one child we will be happy to align you with another family in need.

Stuff the Bus: Saturday 12/8 8am – 2pm (both locations)

sponsored by NHS & CTEE

The buses will be located at the north side Family Fare and north side D&W stores the morning of Saturday, 12/9.  Donations to benefit the North side (CAH) Community Action House of Holland.  Questions?  Contact: Brian Taylor or Mike Jaeger

Toy Drive Gift Wrapping:  12/15 in Library 8am – 1pm

sponsored by WO Senate

Any person, group, club, team, etc. interested in helping wrap gifts is invited to join us in the HS North Library from 8am – 1pm.  *If possible…please bring a roll of wrapping paper, scissors and/or tape!  An “RSVP” email will be sent out in early December for clubs.

Senior Survivor: Mon 12/17 – Friday 12/21

sponsored by WOBN, Mrs. Jernigan & WO Senate

Senior Survivor is a charitable fundraiser and Senior competition rolled into a week long “Survivor” contest.  Senior girls and boys will be chosen to “move into” the high school on Monday, December 17 with the hopes of surviving the game until a champion is chosen at the Month of Caring Assembly on Friday, December 21.  Each day, contestants will be “voted off”, based on the amount of money they have raised for the charity. Alliances will be made, immunity may be earned, memories will be created, but most importantly, money will be raised for a good cause. In the end, there will only be ONE survivor!

Thank you!

Note: Senior Survivor will once again benefit WINWO (When In Need West Ottawa).  WINWO is a fund that was created for WO Students/families in immediate or have emergency needs.  The WINWO fund has been used to purchase winter coats and gloves, restock items in the food pantry, help pay for needed items for students in transitional home situations, purchase school supplies or backpacks, and etc.  For more information regarding WINWO projects, contact AP Kristy Jernigan.

Other Projects???…

**Does your WOHS group, club, team, organization have an idea for a MOC project?

Or, does your group want to participate, but do not have a project in mind?   Contact Senate!  Maybe we can help.

“Caring Celebration Assembly”Friday 12/21

sponsored by WO Senate

The most festive event all year!  Let’s enjoy our last day before holiday break by getting into the holiday spirit with some of our fantastic WOHS musicians, few fun holiday games, as well as recognizing many of our clubs and organizations.

*The WO Senate would especially like to recognize WOHS organizations who take part in the MOC at our assembly Dec.22nd.  If your organization is planning to take part in a community service project this holiday season other than what was shared above, please share that with us!!  -Thanks!

THANK YOU ALL for your continued participation in MOC projects!  We certainly could NOT do it without YOU and your support!!  #WOMOC18
